Students of the University of Applied Sciences in Eisenstadt have completed a project with a regional museum from Lower Austria. They have built a virtual museum including all steps, beginning with the concept and the gathering and creation of media files. The images, movie clips and audio files were then positioned with the eXhibition:editor3D within a virtual space, which was built to look like a farm.

As of today Vivaty Scenes is going public and inviting everyone to join their community. Scenes allows users to create rooms and equip them with furniture within the web browser. Other users can come visit and chat with each other. It’s nothing similar to the eXhibition:editor3D, but it’s nice to see 3D content getting more attention. Robert Scoble wrote about Vivaty in his blog.

Maybe full support for Firefox (3) and Mac OS X will be here soon. We will keep an eye on things.

Also, Google is entering the third dimension with Lively. It’s pretty much the same as Vivaty Scenes: build rooms, get furniture and chat with people. It will be interesting to see how this will affect Vivaty.

We will continue to closely follow the developments in the 3D scene!
